Ahoy! For the first installment in this series I am going to be giving you a step-by-step guide to planning the perfect pirate themed party.
Step 1 – Choosing a venue: This is a step that is purely personal preference. Many choose to have their child’s party at home however you may want to hire a separate venue if you have invited lots of people. Having a separate venue can also allow for a blank canvas in the decoration process.
Step 2 – Booking entertainment – Hiring an entertainer takes away the hassle of keeping children busy and engaged for the duration of the party. There is also an option to have your entertainer dress up to match your chosen theme (If your entertainer provides this). Although dressing up Mr Collie Wobbles up as a fairy might not have the best result ☺.
Step 3 – Decoration- Decorating your chosen venue can be the most enjoyable part of the party planning process but can also become quite stressful. As this is usually the part where people need all hands on deck (excuse the pirate pun). Having a theme can make this a bit simpler as it is easy to make everything tie in. For example having pirate hats as party hats is a fun idea. Also using pirate themed paper plates and napkins can make your pirate theme stand out furthermore these items are usually quite easy to find.
Step 4 – Invitations – Invitations can be a great opportunity to get your child involved in planning their party and handmade invitations can often give a more personal touch. Some ideas for this could be getting the glitter out, if you don’t mind the mess, Origami to make pirate hat invites and feathers to create a parrot card. But it’s up to you. Just get creative!
Step 5 – Novelty Items – Novelty items such as eye patches and chocolate coins can be great party bag fillers for a pirate theme. (If you choose to have them)
